The concept for this logo was derived from the symbolic metaphor of a Knight’s helmet and the fountain pen.
“Pendragon or Pen Draig (pronounced Thriag), meaning in Welsh “head dragon” or “chief dragon” – (a figurative title referring to status as a leader)”

What I Did
Client consultancy, Logo/brand id, Social media asset design
Kyra and I have worked on a few previous projects together. She has written a book, and we collaborated on imagery for the project – which involved action photography of a dancer ‘in movement’.
I took all the photography which she later used as reference for her illustrations. Through this project we met Andrea Walker – whom I have also done work for (see 201 Dance Company).
For this project, she needed a logo which would be bold and iconic. As the word “pendragon” has great heritage – I wanted to embody this through the symbol.
The metonymic adage “pen is mightier than the sword“, coined by the English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton also kept coming up in conversation, and this fueled the concept.
