The story follows a Mexican immigrant family’s life in the United States following a tragic accident. From reading the script, I found one scene in particular very captivating: the dinner scene.


It had a contrast between togetherness, communion and conflict – which fit well with the themes of the film. I relied on symbolism, colour and typography – and created a hand-cut maquette which I then photographed to create the poster. You can see some of the photographs in the moodboards below…

Mood-boards and photographs were used to get a sense of colour, atmosphere and perspective.
